I will be using my time on the island to write and research for my current project GAA MAAD. GAA MAAD is an exploration of Irish identity through sport, history and the female gaze, it celebrates being an outsider, and finding alliances with your rivals.

I would love to work actively with the community and record audio or video interviews. I want to hear about their connection to sport, be that as a fan or a player. I would love to hear the history of their relationship to the Irish language and sport and how the two intertwine.

Is é GAA MAAD, mionchíoradh ar saol na hÉireann trí spóirt, stair agus banúlacht. Ba mhaith liom obair leat chun agallamh raidió a bhaint amach, no fiséan.

Tá suim agam chaint leatsa faoi spóirt agus an chaidreamh idir spóirt agus an phobal áitiúil. Chomh maith le sin, táim ag iarraidh chaint faoi an chaidreamh idir spóirt agus an Ghaeilge.

Tomás O Daltúin

Is as an Trá Mhór i bPort Láirge ó dhúchas mé, agus táim i mo chónaí agus ag obair i gCathair Chorcaí faoi láthair. Mar ealaíontóir / dearthóir / déantóir breathnaím ar mo chleachtas mar ildisciplíneach. Tar éis dom staidéar a dhéanamh ar theicstílí, miotalóireacht, criadóireacht agus priondáil ar feadh dhá bhliain ag Scoil Cheardaíochta Grennan Mill, Cill Chainnigh. Lean mé ar aghaidh chun Céim Onóracha Chéad-Ealaíne i gCeard-Ealaín ó Choláiste Ealaíne agus Deartha Crawford CIT 2011. Sa bhliain 2017, lean mé le mo chuid oideachais i nDearadh agus Déanamh Troscáin ag CSN, Corcaigh. Déanann mo chuid oibre cur chuige comhaimseartha maidir le próisis thraidisiúnta a mheascadh le híogaireacht i leith roghanna ábhair.

Tá mé spreagtha ag dearadh dúchasach na hÉireann chomh maith leis an tírdhreach cósta inar fhás mé suas. Tá toin agus uigeachtaí dumhcha, an fharraige, an t-aitinn fhiáine agus na bláthanna fiáine le feiceáil in ábhair cosúil le feilt olanna, crua-adhmad geal, smáil uiscebhunaithe agus péinteanna báinne i mo chuid oibre.

Originally from Tramore in Waterford, I currently live and work in Cork City. As an artist / designer / maker I view my practice as multi-disciplinary. Having studied textiles, metalwork, ceramics and printmaking for two years at Grennan Mill Craft School, Kilkenny I continued on to receive a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art from CIT Crawford College of Art and Design 2011. In 2017 I continued my education in Furniture Design and Making at CSN, Cork. My work blends contemporary approaches to traditional processes with a sensitivity towards material choices. I am inspired by Irish vernacular design as well as the coastal landscape where I grew up. The tones and textures of sand dunes, the sea, wild gorse and wildflowers are reflected in materials such as wool felt, pale hardwoods, water-based stains and milk paints in my work.

Is mian liom obair Chumann an Mhúsaeim a imscrúdú, Cumann Iarsmalann Chléire, a bunaíodh i 1981 chun déantúsáin a bhfuil spéis ag an oileán iontu a aimsiú, a bhailiú agus a thaispeáint. Ba mhaith liom tuilleadh a fháil amach faoin gcartlann seo a thugann sonraí faoi stair, cultúr, agus oidhreacht an oileáin. Ba mhaith liom níos mó a fháil amach faoin dóigh ar tharla an próiseas seo maidir le foinsiú agus bailiú, agus ba bhreá liom dul i dteagmháil le cuid de na daoine sin a bhí páirteach sa bhuntaighde seo ar an oileán, dá mbeadh sin indéanta. Ba mhaith liom iniúchadh a dhéanamh ar an bhféidearthacht fardal nua a dhéanamh ar dhéantúsáin spéise oileán, beagnach 40 bliain ar aghaidh.

I wish to investigate the work of the Museum Society, Cumann Iarsmalann Chléire, formed in 1981 to source, collect and exhibit artefacts of island interest. I wish to find out more about this archive which details the history, culture, and heritage of the island. I would like to know more about how this process of sourcing and collecting took place, and would love to engage with some of those people who were involved in this original island research, if that were possible. I would like to explore the possibility of conducting a new inventory of island artefacts of interest, almost 40 years on.
