Is cúis mhór áthais dom cuireadh a thabhairt duit chuig lainseáil Phlean Teanga Chléire ar an 19 Lúnasa ó 1i.n. - 2i.n. ag Coláiste Pobail Chléire, Oileán Chléire. 

Sheol an tAire Stáit Jack Chambers Plean Teanga Chléire faoi scéim na Pleanála Teanga i mí Lúnasa 2021. An chiall a bhí leis sin ná go raibh stádas oifigiúil bainte amach ag Cléire mar Limistéar Pleanála Teanga ón dáta sin ar aghaidh. Fostaíodh Ruairí Ó Donnabháin mar Oifigeach Pleanála Teanga i mí Iúil 2022. Tá sé freagrach as cur i bhfeidhm an phlean i gcomhpháirtíocht le hÚdarás na Gaeltachta, Comharchumann Chléire agus muintir Oileán Chléire.

Tá súil agam go mbeidh tú ábalta teacht chun na lainseála chun Plean Teanga Chléire a cheiliúradh. Beidh craic agus ceol ó healaíontóirí agus ceoltóirí áitiúla ar an lá agus beidh sólaistí ann chomh maith. Beidh ceolchoirm ‘Trá Pháidín’ agus ‘Súil Amháin’ ar an oíche mar chuid den fhéile ealaíne agus cultúrtha OILEÁN leis.

I gcaitheamh na mblianta, chuir a lán daoine fúthu ar Chléire nó tháinig siad chun an oileáin chun a gcuid Gaelainne a fheabhsú. Dá bhrí sin, iarraim ort cuidiú liom an cuireadh seo a scaipeadh ar fud na cruinne chuig éinne a bhfuil ceangal acu le hOileán Chléire nó a rinne iarracht stádas na Gaeilge a chur chun cinn ar an oileán.

It is my pleasure to invite you to the launch of Plean Teanga Chléire on Aug 19th from 1pm - 2pm at Coláiste Pobail Chléire. 

In August of 2021, Minister of State Jack Chambers approved the Cape Clear Island Language Plan under the language planning process and Cape Clear achieved its official status as a Language Planning Area. In July of 2022, Ruairí Ó Donnabháin was employed as the Language Plan Officer responsible for the implementation of the plan in partnership with Údarás na Gaeltachta, Comharchumann Chléire and the community on Cape Clear Island. 

I hope you can join us to celebrate the launch of the Cape Clear Island Language Plan, entertainment from local artists and musicians will take place and refreshments will be provided. On the evening in question if you choose to stay on Cape Clear Trá Pháidín and Súil Amháin will play live concerts as part of the annual OILEÁN Arts and Culture Festival.

Many people have called Cape Clear Island home or come here to learn the Irish Language over the years so I would also ask your help in spreading this invitation far and wide to anyone who you think might like to attend who has a connection with Cape Clear Island or has supported the development of the Irish Language.

Ceolchoirm - Clare Sands - Concert

Channelling the music of her ancestors, sixth generation fearless fiddler, bilingual singer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Clare Sands is a unique force in Irish music. Creating boundary breaking Fearless Folk music inspired by her travels around Ireland and the world, Sands sings for the young and the old, brave and the bold. By day, the award-winning young artist has an ever evolving and extraordinary eclectic musical career, whilst by night, Sands is a black belt holding several world medals representing Ireland in martial arts, with warrior lightning bolt energy, both on and off stage.

With deep family roots in Co.Wexford and Northern Ireland, Sands took up the fiddle at the age of three, learning Irish traditional tunes from her father Seamus on a weekly basis., while her mother Susan introduced her to the Blues. After school, Clare went on to study Music & Italian in UCC, and a Masters in Composition & Creative Practice at the Irish World Academy, receiving first class honours. While at university, Clare developed her skills as a bilingual songwriter, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, playing 10 + instruments!

Since then, Sands has been wowing audiences around Ireland & further afield with her groundbreaking traditional style and infinite energy. These electrifying live performances see Clare on fiddle, guitar, percussion & vocals combined with live electronics to create soundscapes of story and song. Playing with the likes of Hothouse Flowers, her musical soul brothers, as well as Kíla, Imelda May, Mary Coughlan and more, Clare is never shy and always fearless to share the stage.
